Silverleaf Academy partnered with Rippleworks to deploy a blended learning platform to onboard and train teachers.

40% of pre-primary aged children in Tanzania are not in school, and 90% of second graders cannot read or do basic math on grade level. Silverleaf Academy is founded on the belief that quality education should be accessible to all children. Silverleaf provides affordable pre-primary and primary private English Medium schools for children aged 4-14. Their mission is to provide lower middle-income urban families with the highest quality education possible. Silverleaf’s unique pedagogy utilizes student-centered learning techniques that harness children’s innate creativity and curiosity, allowing them to develop the basic skills of writing, reading and counting, while also preparing for a world where critical thinking, team collaboration, and entrepreneurship are paramount.

One of Silverleaf’s top priorities going into this project was creating an onboarding and training platform for the 2,000+ teachers they aim to hire over the next 10 years.

Silverleaf partnered with Anita Sagar, an expert with 15+ years of experience creating effective learning strategies for scaling organizations. Together, they:

• Create a competency matrix and practical everyday tools to give teachers more ownership of their professional development.

• Prototyped an LMS for teachers to track their learning journey.
